BPM is typically organized by capacity structures that outline and package capacity areas related to the introduction of process orientation in organizations. In terms of their extensive use, the current BPM power structures are being threatened by sociotechnical developments, such as those brought on by digitalization. In line with the uptake of emerging technology, digitalization changes current systems and creates new ones due to their effect on individual actions and desires, intra-and inter-company partnerships and new types of automation. This growth has led the writers to conclude that digitization calls for new capacity areas and that current systems need to be revised.
