JUNE 2020INDUSTRY TECH OUTLOOK2As per the Technology Vision Consumer Survey, 52 percent of customers say that technology plays a prominent part or is ingrained into almost all phases of their day-to-day lives. Nineteen percent report that technology is so intertwined with their experiences that they view it as an extension of themselves. Globally, people consume an average of 6.4 hours online daily.People don't resist technology; they remain excited and intrigued by it. But businesses are expanding and deploying that technology using the playbooks of decades earlier, from the days before tech had such a significant, meaningful influence in our lives. Closed ecosystems can make experiences dismembered. Artificial intelligence solutions are utilized to decision-making without transparency, leaving people out of the loop on choices that directly affect their lives. Concerns about security, privacy, and moral issues keep people wary of companies' growing digital technology innovations.Navigating tech-clash is a significant challenge for C-suite leaders in the next decade. Up until now, businesses have essentially benefited from following the technology roadmap put out by digital pioneers. Now, digital technology is evolving from an asset to a basic expectation--and yesterday's best practices are transforming into today's shortcomings. Companies must present more human-focused experiences, in line with what people have come to anticipate. This means that people's expectations can lead the way forward, but there is no one roadmap. The resolution of the next generation of products and services will rest on companies' capacity to enhance the human experience, according to the world they have constructed.None of the steps on the way are incremental adjustments, nor are they as simple as obtaining the next technological tool to do what you're already doing today. Leading in the future will require to rethink core assumptions about how an enterprise operates and redefining the intersection among people and technology.Technology Leaders 2020: Are You the Tech Leader?Editor's NoteEditorial StaffSalesJennifer NicoleVisualizersSteve DuenesErin DanielMark Clark mark@industry-techoutlook.comCarolyn RyanINSIGHT ON EMERGING TECHNOLOGYINDUSTRY TECH OUTLOOKChief EditorEmma Watson
